The Esk Valley Railway Music Train, now in its 12th year, is a popular venue for both residents and visitors.
For the price of a normal ticket, you can travel the line and listen to live music for free. The music train leaves Whitby at 7.15 pm and returns on the 8.40 pm from Middlesbrough, arriving back at Whitby at 10.10 pm.
For an extra cost you can purchase drinks from a bar run by EVRDC staff and volunteers. We serve real ale from Captain Cook’s Brewery, wine and soft drinks for reasonable prices. We encourage responsible drinkers on these services as children and dogs are actively welcomed. These events are run to highlight the need for a year round late evening service on the Esk Valley for those people who want a night out without having to drive.
Many people from the Middlesbrough end of the line take advantage of the last service from Whitby at 22.25 to have an evening out in Whitby by catching the 17.40 service from Middlesbrough. They miss out on the music but have a leisurely meal at one of the restaurants instead.
Dates for the 2012 Music Train season are:
6th July, 13th July, 20th July, 27th July
3rd August, 10th August, 17th August, 24th August, 31st August
