Gypsy Lane Station has had a complete facelift. There is a smart new shelter, new lighting and CCTV cameras have been installed. Poster cases previously damaged by anti-social behaviour have also been replaced.
Darren Halliday, the station volunteer, sent in this photo of the new station to illustrate how welcoming the station is now, even on an evening, the improved lighting makes all the difference to travellers.
The funding for this project has been provided by the Local Sustainable Transport Fund. The successful bidders, Tees Valley Unlimited, were awarded the money for improvements to Gypsy Lane, Marton and Nunthorpe. It also included funding for the new James Cook Station which will be built between Marton and Middlesbrough Stations.
