James Cook Station

As you may gather from the title of this blog post, the name of the new station is to be “James Cook Station”. Due to open in May, work is rapidly moving along. Sixteen services will be introduced between Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe. Between Nunthorpe and Whitby there will be no change, however, unless funding can be found. Support from the community would be really helpful in our campaign for a better service on this section of the route. You can write in support of an improved service between Whitby & Nunthorpe to:  Esk Valley Railway Development Company, The Coliseum, Victoria Place, Whitby, North Yorkshire, YO21 1EZ. Or by email to enquiries@eskvalleyrailway.co.uk. There is more information at the Esk Valley Railway website (http://www.eskvalleyrailway.co.uk/) where you can find a page for all the stations on the “Along The Line” page and also subscribe to a newsletter.

Here are some more photo’s of how construction was coming along as of Friday 14th March.
